Ramkund is the main place of attraction for tourists. It is basically a holy tank which was built long time back and has area dimensions around 27m by 12 m. Its name is given on the name of lord Rama as there is a belief that Rama and Sita used to take bathe in it during the period of exile. All the remains or ashes of the people who die are immersed in its water by their relatives in a belief that they will achieve Moksha as in liberation. Ramkund has immersed the ashes of many great leaders of our country such as Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, YB Chavan etc.

After Ramkund, a white coloured temple known as Muktidham is a venue of attraction. It is made up of Makrana White marble and its pure white colour signifies the strength of peace. It is situated 7 km far from the city centre. At least 18 chapters of Gita are carved within its walls which make this temple look a little complex. This style makes it different from all other holy places. It is termed as the visit of 4 dhams by Hindus.

Some tourists who have their keen interest in museum and architecture visit the two places at large scale. They are Coin Museum and Pandavleni Caves. They both are said to consist of large vihara. Other temples are also there such as Someshwar which is made on the name of Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman. Greenery could be observed all around the temple which keeps the climate soothing. Tourists get attracted towards it as film shootings also take place frequently at this place. Deolali Camp which is among the oldest centres of military is also a place for sightseeing especially by foreign tourists. Wide roads and greenery makes this place a unique one. Artillery centre and Takli are also a good option to visit.

Last but not the least; do not forget to witness Kumbh Mela of Nashik. It is the largest religious Mela which has unlimited gathering in it. People across the globe visit it in order to take a bath in Godavari River as there is a belief of washing all the sins by doing so.

How to reach Nashik

As Nashik is located in north-west of Maharashtra, it is around 160 km from Mumbai and 220 km from Pune. If you wish to visit the place via train then the city centre will be around 9 km from the railway station. Mumbai is directly linked with Nashik through railway connectivity. Apart from Mumbai, you will get the direct railway connectivity from Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad.

The nearest airport from the city is in Mumbai known by Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. Direct and indirect flights are available to reach the city from national place as well as international place. Buses are the most common mode of transport and hence a good network of buses could be seen which link a huge number of nearby cities. We can say that Nashik has got a well developed bus network.
